The Alabama State Parks Division will celebrate 200 years of Alabama statehood on the 200th day of 2019 – Friday, July 19 – by declaring it Bicentennial Day at Alabama State Parks. On that day, Alabama’s state parks will offer free admission, free parking and a 20 percent discount on overnight accommodations (some exceptions apply).
The Lodge at Gulf State Park, a Hilton Hotel, is a unique destination located on Alabama’s Gulf Coast and part of the Gulf State Park. The location offers all the perks of a beachfront location as well as a host of park amenities such as hiking and biking trails, a 900-acre fishing lake, nature center and outdoor classroom, interpretive center, tennis, kayaking, paddle boards, geocaching, guided nature walks, birding, and several playgrounds.

We appreciate all of the volunteers that spend their time working in the park. Their effort and passion help us accomplish things that we could not do on our own. While some individuals and groups bring special skills and resources to a project like the Japanese gardens renovation at Monte Sano State Park, projects led by youth organizations don’t have those same resources.
You now have an option of purchasing an Alabama State Parks car tag. The renewal process remains the same; simply request an Alabama State Parks car tag during the renewal procedure and 80% of your money will go directly to help fund the Alabama State Parks. Now all boat owners have the option of purchasing an Alabama State Parks boat registration for their vessel. This is a new form of much needed revenue for the State Parks.
While park staff performs many of the daily tasks and duties it takes to operate, volunteers are vital to Alabama’s state parks. The Volunteer In Parks (VIP) program was created to allow individuals or groups to make a difference at their favorite park. VIP participants make a positive impact year-round in each of the state’s 21 parks.
